Instructions
Prep the Chocolate: Chop the chocolate into chunks (or use chocolate chips if you prefer). Set aside.
Mix Dry Ingredients: In a bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder until well combined.
Cream the Butter & Sugars: In a separate bowl, beat the softened butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until light and creamy. If you're using cream, add it in now, or substitute it with an egg for a richer texture. Add the scraped vanilla bean and mix well.
Combine Ingredients: Add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture and stir until just combined. Pour in the milk and stir again until smooth. Gently fold in the chocolate chunks or chips.
Chill the Dough: Refrigerate the dough for about 20 minutes to firm it up a bit. This step helps the cookie hold its shape while baking.
Form the Cookie: Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Scoop and roll the dough into a ball and place it on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
Bake: Bake for about 15 minutes, or until the top turns golden brown. Keep a close eye on it to avoid overbaking.
Cool & Enjoy: Let the cookie cool on the tray for a few minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. Enjoy your freshly baked, gooey chocolate chip cookie!
Notes
Don’t Overmix: Once you add the dry ingredients, mix just enough to combine. Overmixing can result in a tough cookie.
Chill the Dough: Chilling the dough for 20 minutes helps the cookies bake evenly and prevents them from spreading too much.
Use Room Temperature Ingredients: Ensure the butter is softened and the cream or egg is at room temperature to avoid clumps and ensure a smooth dough.
Watch Baking Time: Oven temperatures can vary, so keep a close eye on your cookie and take it out when the edges are golden but the center is still soft.
